0hm, now available on shapeways
Modeled after the OM chant, this piece simulates the 120-140 Hz range of sound. The simulation came from research I did into vibration’s effect on water and our bodies. The note is somewhere around C#.
This model is the result of a personal challenge to create, produce, and release a completely new product in one day. I’m exploring new ways to experience and communicate sound. Sometimes hearing isn’t enough, it’s nice to touch and see as well.
Only 20 of these will be produced.
#TotallyDifferentThursday 0hm prerelease
For a personal challenge today I had to design, produce, and release a product in a little over two hours. Here’s what I came up with.
It’s a 3D printed model of a ~120Hz tone, based on the OM chant. Finished dimensions are 50x50x14mm / 2x2x0.5in. It is made for the Frosted Detail material from Shapeways.com
I didn’t succeed in taking it all the way to production, but I generated the concept and built the 3D model (thanks to my friend Sista who helped me brainstorm).
To do: tweak the model a little more to be ready for Shapeways, but it worked just fine to make this mockup (and gave me an excuse to learn compositing in Cinema4D).
